These measures were developed collaboratively by the research team over the course of the project. Please contact Dr. Nancy Holincheck of George Mason University's College of Education and Human Development with questions about the measures.
The measure of Digital Scientific Literacy (DSLQ) was developed for use as pre- and post- measures in university-level science courses in which sInvestigator served as an intervention. The DSLQ may be used in other settings to assess student evaluation of credibility of internet sources, including with a control group paired with an sInvestigator treatment group.
The DSLQ measure was developed for use with undergraduate students but could be also used with secondary students (U.S. grades 7-12) and adult learners. The internet sources selected for use in the DSLQ were carefully selected by the research team to reflect sources of varying credibility centered on a topic that was relevant to the study participants. Researchers or instructors interested in using the DSLQ in new contexts are encouraged to carefully select internet sources with varying degrees of credibility for use with the DSLQ.
